We visit the most famous and
exciting places during this round trip in eastern Venezuela. Canaima with
the Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world, the animal rich Orinoco
delta and the best Caribbean beaches like Playa Medina!
This round trip is organized by

Tag 1: Maiquetia (Caracas) - Ciudad Bolivar (-, -, -)
Flight to Ciudad Bolivar, welcome cocktail, briefing and overnight
stay at Posada La Casita in Ciudad Bolivar.
Tag 2: Ciudad Bolivar - Canaima (F, M, A)
In the morning we leave Ciudad Bolivar with a small 5 seat Cessna.
During the flight we have a fantastic view above the Guri lake, the Caroni
river and the Gran Sabana. After arrival in Canaima we cross the famous
Canaima lagoon with a dugout. This lagoon is fed by five waterfalls and
is also a great photo opportunity. In the afternoon we walk behind the
impressive Salto Sapo. We need bathing suits because we will get wet!
Overnight stay is in beds opposite the Canaima lagoon. Here we also get
a warm dinner.
Tag 3: Canaima - Angel Fall (F, M, A)
Today we drive up the Carrao river heading the the Angel Falls. Water
level permitting it takes about 4 hours. In dry season the guides have
to push the dugout along the rocks. We get an incredible beautiful view
of the Auyan Tepui inside the devils canyon. Afterwards we walk about 90
minutes to a viewpoint of the Angel Falls. It is a great feeling
standing below the highest waterfall in the world. At lunch time we get
fried chicken at the banks of hte Carrao river. The overnight stay is in
hammocks with view to the Angel Falls.
Tag 4: Angel Falls - Ciudad Bolivar (F, M, -)
After breakfast is the last opportunity for a morning picture of the
Angel Falls. Afterwards we turn back to Canaima and take the plane back
to Ciudad Bolivar. The overnight stay is again at Posada La Casita.
Tag 5: Ciudad Bolivar- - Orinoco delta (F, M, A)
Early in the
morning we drive from
Boca Uracoa
Ciudad Bolivar, capital of
Delta Amacuro. On
reaching the village of
Boca de San
Jose Uricoa
Buja or
can enter the world
of the famous river Orinoco.
Here we will
be greeted by a guide
we will take a boat
to go to the camp
where we will
Abujene waiting
for lunch one reccorrido
3 hours. In the afternoon
we will have a boat excursion
with a guide of the
indigenous Warao tribe
will give us a tour of
some of the many canals
to explore the fauna and
flora. Then
visit a Warao
indigenous community where we
can see moriche
handicraft products and various
seeds. If time
permits we
will watch the sunset over
the Orinoco river,
enjoying a drink. Upon
returning to camp our
dinner will be served.
Tag 6: Orinoco delta (F, M, A)
After
breakfast sail boat to
go to a place where we will
walk through the jungle.
The guide will explain
the functions of some plants
and their medical effects.
We may have the opportunity
to test water cocoa,
palm tree or water.
In the afternoon we will
swim in the river where there
is a sandy beach.
After piranha fishing
we will bring to camp
for dinner. If time
permitting, enjoy the sunset on
the river, be accompanied by
the cries of parrots and
monkeys, then
have dinner.
Tag 7: Orinoco delta - Carupano (F, -, -)
This day we start at dawn, the best time to watch the animals close
to the Campament. We cross a nearby lagoon and will see a lot of animals
very closely.
After breakfast we start another tour through the narrow mangrove
canals. Again we can watch and tape new species animals. The tour ends
at the harbor where our car is waiting to take us to the Caribeean coast
to Carupano.
Tag 8: Carupano (F, M, -)
Today we discover the untouched Paria peninsula, where the time stopped one-hundred years ago. To heat our senses, as the phase says, we visit the thermal springs of El Pilar. This melting pot of nature with its sulfur ambient reminds us of Faust "Witch hubbub". We get a late breakfast and boil eggs. Afterwards we visit the buffalo ranch "Rio de Agua" in the savannah of the gulf of Paria. Here we watch the water buffalos in the mud and the savannah with its birds from a viewpoint. Who want can taste fresh buffalo cheese. Then we follow the beautiful roadt via Bohordal through primary forest with immense bamboos grove until we reach "Playa Medina". Here we rest and spend some time. In the afternoon we visit the cacao hacienda "Bukare", where the owner explains how to increase the quality of cacao in a natural way. We are invited to learn the secrets of making cacao. On our way back to Posada Nena we visit the colonial village Rio Caribe and drive along the beautiful coast road.
Extending the stay at the beach and Posada Nena is always possible.
Tag 9: Carupano - Caracas (F, -, -)
After breakfast we drive to the airport of Carupano and take the
plane to Maiquetia to get the international flight in time.
