The Autana mountains are situated in the South West, home to most of the Indian tribes living in Venezuela.
Day 1:
Departure from Puerto Ayacucho at 09:00am by car to Samariapo. You pass through the Savannah with great views of the lajas (big granite rocks). When you reach the Orinoco river, you go down-stream in a small boat to a little island called "Raton". After seeing some
medicinal plants and orchids you continue the trip to the Siapo river. While your guide prepares your lunch, you can swim in the river! After lunch, you continue the boat ride to the village of the Piaroa Indians, where you learn about their traditional agricultural
methods. Dinner and overnight stay in hammocks.
Day 2:
After breakfast you go down the river Autana to Raudal de Ceguera, opposite the Autana mountain. From there you start a beautiful walk through the jungle for about 4-5 hrs to get the best view of the mountain Autana!! After a break to relax and take some photos you continue to another Indian village
where the Piaroa tribe live. Overnight stay in hammocks.
Day 3:
After breakfast you start the return journey. On the way you can spot birds, tarantulas or even snakes if you are lucky! Then you go back to Puerto Ayacucho. End of the trip!
